Sponsor A Fellow
Through generous support from its donors, the
American-Italian Cancer Foundation (AICF) is able to fund the
novel and innovative ideas of young scientists at a time in
their careers when funding from traditional sources is less
certain.
AICF funds up to 20 fellowships annually, with the Board of Directors acting upon the recommendations of the Scientific Advisory Board. Funding is granted for a period of up to two years; up to ten first-year fellows are granted funding for a second year, with the remaining open positions filled with first-year fellows. The fellowship award takes the form of a stipend that covers living expenses for a one-year period.
Named Fellowships
A named fellowship can be established with a
gift of $40,000, while a half, named fellowship is $20,000.
Donors may fund research related to a specific cancer type
(e.g., breast, pancreatic, prostate, lymphoma, etc.).
They may also establish a fellowship in honor or memory of a
loved one or friend.
At the donor's request, AICF will arrange a
meeting between the fellow and the named fellowship sponsor,
sometime during the course of the fellowship period.
If you are interested in discussing the possibilities for
establishing a named fellowship, please call Executive Director
Addie Backlund at 212-628-9090 or send an e-mail to addiebacklund@americanitaliancancer.org.
