At the 2011 Benefit Dinner & Auctions, we recognized the outstanding accomplishments of Joseph Schlessinger, PhD, the William H. Prusoff Professor and Chair of Pharmacology, Department of Pharmacology, Yale School of Medicine, and David M. Livingston, MD, the Emil Frei Professor of Genetics and Medicine, Harvard Medical School and Deputy Director, Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, who received The Alexander Bodini Foundation Prize for Scientific Excellence in Medicine.
We also celebrated the achievements of Mrs. Janelle Hail, Founder & CEO of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, a champion of AICF’s Breast Cancer Screening Program and friend to newly-diagnosed breast cancer patients worldwide, who received the Alessandro di Montezemolo Lifetime Achievement Award.
Daniel Piette, Founding Partner and President, LVMH “L Capital” Funds and Member, LVMH Group Executive Committee for his outstanding leadership, served as Benefit Chairman.
Pier Giuseppe Pelicci, Co-Scientific Director of the European Institute of Oncology in Milan and Chairman of its Department of Experimental Oncology, Scientific Director of the SEMM Foundation, President of the Cogentech Consortium, and an alumnus of AICF’s International Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship Program, joined us as guest speaker.
James Niven, Chairman, The Americas at Sotheby’s, for led the Live Auction.
Dr. Paul A. Marks and Dr. Riccardo Dalla-Favera have led AICF’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) for another productive year as Chairman and Vice Chairman, respectively. Their expert guidance, along with the efforts of all SAB members, helps to ensure that the funds AICF raises for cancer research are wisely spent.
